Recovery Community Organization

Recovery Community Organizations (RCO) play a unique role that builds on professional services and mutual-help organizations; and by connecting recovering individuals to social services; employment and skills training; and educational agencies.

Little is known scientifically about the benefits offered by Recovery Community Organizations.

In the the first ever systematic evaluation of RCOs, the Recovery Research Institute is conducting an ongoing, longitudinal National Institutes of Health-funded study. Preliminary data show that RCO participants (in recovery for 4 years on average) report that their center engagement has been extremely helpful in their recovery and overall well-being. RCO volunteers report the highest levels of perceived helpfulness.

Events

Life Align has dedicated itself to building a vibrant and resilient recovery community here in West Michigan, fostering connection, support, and healing for all who seek it. Through our community events, weekly meals, recovery coaching, and weekly meditations, we provide a supportive and nurturing environment for everyone on their recovery journey. Life Align wants those in need to realize that they are not alone and they have a home here at Life Align. Our recovery coaches are here to inspire participants, link them to local resources, and share their personal journeys of recovery. As the only peer-led and peer-run recovery center in West Michigan, Life Align recognizes that addiction is a lonely struggle. We understand the profound importance of connection, and we are committed to building a community founded on strong, supportive relationships.

Join Life Align Wednesday evenings for our Men’s Group from 5:30p – 7p. This group is devoted to allowing men to connect and share their experiences. Many times, men are stigmatized and scared to share their feelings. Men are supposed to be strong and stoic. Life Align breaking down those beliefs and we allow men to share their journey with another.
